iPhone 5G(Features)

iPhone 5 is just around the corner, it must be out in about two months but we have not too many rumors or leaks yet. May be people are scared of what happened to Gizmodo but we have a nifty list of features that we expect to be included in iPhone 5. Though Apple won’t enhance iOS drastically as we wish but there might be significant changes to the overall product design and software. Here is a list of the features which the world is expecting iPhone 5 to have. Please note that this is not our opinion, listing these features here is because of several clues we keep getting from different sources.

 1.Additional Multi touch Gestures

 iOS 4.3 GM brought new multi touch gestures that included the use of 4 or 5 fingers to do several things.    Like a 5 finger pinch on any app would take you to the home screen and a four finger left or right swipe would switch between the running apps. These gestures have not been released to the masses in iOS 4.3′s final release and are being tested extensively so it is very obvious that they will be coming out with iOS 5.0

2. Lack of Home Button

      Don’t get started on me, let me say that iPhone 5 might not have any hardware home button on its front! When you can switch between the apps with four finger gestures instead of double clicking the home button and 5 finger pinch to the home screen, why do you need a hardware button? That’s totally right but I think it is too early for Apple to implement such a drastic hardware change. Apple might rather stick to the current design with the presence of a home button and leave this change for the next iPhone launch iteration.

3. Slight or No Design Change

      Like the iPhone 3GS hardly got a design change, iPhone 5 might also get a slight or no hardware design change. You might be carrying an iPhone 5 with the same design as your iPhone 4 and your friends won’t even notice that you’ve got an iPhone 5.

4.1GHz Dual Core CPU

      As iPad 2 already features an Apple A5 chip made by Samsung, it would definitely make it there into iPhone 5. A5 features a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8(or A9?) dual core processor. According to Steve Jobs, A5 has got two time faster CPU and nine times faster GPU.

5. 512 MB of RAM

      A5 has got 512MB of RAM, it has not been updated from A4, iPad 2 has it so there’s hardly a chance of RAM upgrade in iPhone 5.

6. White iPhone 5′s Availability from Day 1

      As Apple has already overcommed the hurdles hindering the availability of a white iGadget with the release of white iPad 2 from day 1, this is pretty much obvious that iPhone 5 would also be available in white color from the very first day of its launch. I’ve already elaborated this point in detail, have a look.

Apple Looking At 3D Camera In Future Gen iPhones

Probably doesn’t come as much a surprise that Apple are looking at 3D technology, ever one seems to be doing it at the moment. According to AppleInsider Apple have filed for a patent that would involve taking multiple pictures and then meshing them together to make a 3 dimensional image.

Many companies are jumping onto the 3D bandwagon, we have the HTC Evo which has a pair of cameras on the back which allow it to record 3D videos.

This patent indicates that the technology would allow the iPhone to shoot 3D still images and record high def 3D video.

One would assume that if Apple were to include 3D technology in their camera, that they would add in a 3D screen, but I’m not quite sure how that would work.

One thing I’m pretty sure though is that this won’t find it’s way into the iPhone 5, or probably not the iPhone 6. Apple like to wait until these sort of technologies are well established first.

What would you think of having a 3 Camera, would you use it? Is it too early for the market now?

iPhone 5 Not Starting Production Until September
According to a recent report from yet another analyst, the iPhone 5 will not go into production until September as previously rumored. Business Insider reports that an analyst has said that the iPhone 5 won’t start production until September, let alone go on sale then.

They reckon that the iPhone 5 won’t make it to the market until the end of 2011, or we could even be looking at an early 2012 release.
As I’m sure any of you who would regularly follow these iPhone rumors will know by now, that these rumors can be very conflicting at times, often jumping from one extreme to the other. A lot of them can be taken with a pinch of salt but this is consistent with other reports from analysts and supply chains claiming that Apple hasn’t even placed orders yet for parts.

Another possible reason for Apple delaying the iPhone 5 is because they want to get more mileage from the iPhone 4. Quite possibly they will release the iPhone 4 in White and hope that that will extend the products life cycle somewhat before everyone wants to upgrade again.

But as usual, you never know with Apple who will be very keen to make sure nothing leaks this time compared to last years fiasco.

8 Megapixel Camera from Sony in iPhone 5

9to5 Mac conducted an interview with Sony CEO  Howard Stringer at Carnegie Hall in New York City as part of the JapanNYC festival. It would appear that Stringer accidentally let slip that Sony will be in fact supplying the camera’s for the iPhone 5.

He said that due to the tsunami in Japan there factory was delayed in providing its shipments of camera sensors to Apple.

This comes as news to us since Sony is not currently known to be a camera supplier for Apple. At the moment OmniVision Technologies is known to be the sole supplier of image sensors for all of Apple’s mobile products so far.
That same report also predicted the 5 megapixel camera in the iPhone 4.
So it would seem that an upgraded 8 megapixel camera is certainly on the cards for the next gen iPhone 5. It would make sense as well.

Block Unwanted Sites Without Installing Any Software.

Do you want to block a certain websites to prevent your kids from access to these sites?, or you want to block it because it has virus, Trojan or malware?, whatever the reason you want to block this site.

Of course there are many software that allow you to block some websites, but what if you wanted just to block one or two websites? installing software takes memory disks pace and CPU power making your computer more slower.

Instead of installing any additional software there is trick you can use to block and redirect certain website to other safe websites, in windows there is file called the Hosts files which is used to control mapping networks names

The hosts file is located in "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" we are going to edit it to block certain websites

1) Go to this directory [c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc], directory may change according to drive used for os installation
2) then hit enter
3) find a file named "hosts"
4) Right click on it and open with word pad.
5) In the last line of the document type the IP* address of any website that you want to redirect your blocked sites to. (For example: if you want to block google.com and redirect it to yahoo.com.. type the ip address of yahoo.com , give space and type the domain name google.com..
209.131.36.158 google.com
Here the ip address is of yahoo and the domain name is google so when anyone types google.com in your computer, they will be redirected to yahoo instead of google. If you dont want to redirect the blocked site to any other site , then you can use your own localhost ip 127.0.0.1)
6) now save it
7) restart the browser if its already running
8) Now try it, It works perfect.

Display Most Recent Tweet in WordPress

Twitter is getting very famous among bloggers. Many bloggers are now displaying their most recent tweet on their blog. If you want to display your most recent tweet on your blog simply place this code where you want to display it in your WordPress theme.

    <?php
    $username = "TwitterUsername"; // Your twitter username.
    $prefix = ""; // Prefix – some text you want displayed before your latest tweet.
    $suffix = ""; // Suffix – some text you want display after your latest tweet.
    $feed = "http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=from:" . $username . "&rpp=1";

    function parse_feed($feed) {
    $stepOne = explode("<content type=\"html\">", $feed);
    $stepTwo = explode("</content>", $stepOne[1]);
    $tweet = $stepTwo[0];
    $tweet = str_replace("&lt;", "<", $tweet);
    $tweet = str_replace("&gt;", ">", $tweet);
    return $tweet;
    }

    $twitterFeed = file_get_contents($feed);
    echo stripslashes($prefix) . parse_feed($twitterFeed) . stripslashes($suffix);
    ?>

Make sure to change the username in the first line.

Display Guest Author’s Name via Custom Field

Many Blogs are now having guest posts on their site. Some of these guest authors are one-time only authors, so there is no point in creating a separate profile for them just so you can display their name in the post. The smarter way to do this is by using the following code.

Open you single.php, or page.php in your template and add the following code where you display the author name:

    <?php $author = get_post_meta($post->ID, "guest-author", true);
    if ($author != "") {
    echo $author;
    } else {
    the_author();
    } ?>

This code will look for the custom field called guest-author if it is found, then it will display that name, otherwise it will display the_author function meaning the person who actually published it meaning you.

Note: You might have to remove the original the_author function before you place this.

Display Most Recent Comments with Gravatars

Have you seen sites that display most recent comments in their sidebar with user gravatars. Well this can be done easily with these codes. Simply paste the following code anywhere you want to display the most recent comments.

    <?php
    $query = "SELECT * from $wpdb->comments WHERE comment_approved= '1'
    ORDER BY comment_date DESC LIMIT 0 ,5";
    $comments = $wpdb->get_results($query);

    if ($comments) {
    echo '<ul>';
    foreach ($comments as $comment) {
    $url = '<a href="'. get_permalink($comment->comment_post_ID).'#comment-'.$comment->comment_ID .'" title="'.$comment->comment_author .' | '.get_the_title($comment->comment_post_ID).'">';
    echo '<li>';
    echo '<div class="img">';
    echo $url;
    echo get_avatar( $comment->comment_author_email, $img_w);
    echo '</a></div>';

    echo '<div class="txt">Par: ';
    echo $url;
    echo $comment->comment_author;
    echo '</a></div>';
    echo '</li>';
    }
    echo '</ul>';
    }
    ?>

To get more or less than 5 comments, change the number 5 on line 2.

Display Author’s Twitter and Facebook Information on their Profile Page

WordPress has fields for fields for author contacts, but it has not been updated in ages. So by default you do not have an ability to add author’s twitter or facebook. With this hack you can add this information on their profile page.

First open your functions.php and paste the following code:

    <?php
    function my_new_contactmethods( $contactmethods ) {
    // Add Twitter
    $contactmethods['twitter'] = 'Twitter';
    //add Facebook
    $contactmethods['facebook'] = 'Facebook';

    return $contactmethods;
    }
    add_filter('user_contactmethods','my_new_contactmethods',10,1);
    ?>

The above code will add two extra fields on your user-edit page named twitter and Facebook. You can display the code with the following code in your author.php file.

    <?php echo $curauth->twitter; ?>

Modify Excerpt Length and More Tags

WordPress lets you display Excerpts, but up until version 2.9 you could not control the excerpt length. With the following code, you can increase the length from default 55 words to as many words as you like. Open your functions.php file and add the follwowing codes in there:

    // Changing excerpt length
    function new_excerpt_length($length) {
    return 100;
    }
    add_filter('excerpt_length', 'new_excerpt_length');

    // Changing excerpt more
    function new_excerpt_more($more) {
    return '…';
    }
    add_filter('excerpt_more', 'new_excerpt_more');

Change the 100 word limit to the count that you desire.

Display the most Recent Post from a Specific Category

Did you see sites with a magazine style theme who are displaying posts from a specific category. Sometimes only the most recent post. Well you can do this too easily.

    <?php
    query_posts('showposts=1&cat=3');
    while(have_posts()) : the_post();
    ?>
    <ul>
    <li><h3><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h3>

    <ul><li><?php the_content(); ?></li>
    </ul>
    </li>
    </ul>
    <?php endwhile; ?>

Add the above code anywhere you like in the template. Make sure you change the category ID and you can change the number of posts displayed as well if you want.

Display Latest Sticky Posts in WordPress

Assuming that you have already created a custom page template and/or already have The Loop ready, paste the following code before the loop.

    <?php
    /* Get all sticky posts */
    $sticky = get_option( 'sticky_posts' );

    /* Sort the stickies with the newest ones at the top */
    rsort( $sticky );

    /* Get the 5 newest stickies (change 5 for a different number) */
    $sticky = array_slice( $sticky, 0, 5 );

    /* Query sticky posts */
    query_posts( array( 'post__in' => $sticky, 'caller_get_posts' => 1 ) );
    ?>

This code can very well be used in featured slider, or any other advanced feature that you would like to display on your site. This snippet is mostly geared toward a WordPress site that has a custom homepage or a magazine style look.

The credit to this code goes to Justin Tadlock and partially to Nathan Rice for coming up with the array slice solution.

How set an Expiration Date for Your Posts?

This hack comes becomes very useful when you are running a contest because you might
be posting information such as clues or hints that you don’t want to stay up for ever.
of manually removing the article, you can just make it expire automatically. It also works
if you have a product that you are offering a discount on. You posted it on your blog,
but you don’t want that discount to stay on your blog after its over. So you can remove it
automatically with this code.

All you need to do is replace your WordPress Loop with this code:

<?php
    if (have_posts()) :
    while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
    $expirationtime = get_post_custom_values('expiration');
    if (is_array($expirationtime)) {
    $expirestring = implode($expirationtime);
    }

    $secondsbetween = strtotime($expirestring)-time();
    if ( $secondsbetween > 0 ) {
    // For example…
    the_title();
    the_excerpt();
    }
    endwhile;
    endif;
    ?>

Once you have done that, you can use custom fields when writing a post to set an expiration date. Make sure you select the key “expiration” and use the the following date format: mm/dd/yyyy 00:00:00

Now this hack does not remove or unpublish the article instead it just excludes the article from being displayed in the loop

How to Display Random Header Images in WordPress?

Most blog designs get boring if they have a huge header picture and it is static.
This is when this tutorial comes in to make your header images dynamic because
it rotates on each visit. You can select as many images as you want to rotate
randomly. It brings life to a blog.

First you need to name your images in this format:

    * headerimage_1.gif
    * headerimage_2.gif
    * headerimage_3.gif

You must separate the name with an underscore. You can change the headerimage text to himage or anything you like.

Once you have done that paste the following code in your header.php where you would like the images to be displayed or in any other file.

    <img src="http://path_to_images/headerimage_<?php echo(rand(1,3)); ?>.gif"
    width="image_width" height="image_height" alt="image_alt_text" />

Make sure that you change the number 3 if you decide to do more than 3 images. This code is not exclusive for WordPress, it will work with any php based platform.

Display Twitter Follower Count as Text

There are users who absolutely hate buttons like Feedburner buttons or Twittercounter buttons. Are you one of them? Do you want to display your twitter count as text, so it blends in to your new custom design? Well then this hack is just for you.

First you would need to create a file twitter.php and paste the following code in there:

    <?php
    $tw = get_option("twitterfollowerscount");
    if ($tw['lastcheck'] < ( mktime() – 3600 ) )
    {
    $xml=file_get_contents('http://twitter.com/users/show.xml?screen_name=wpbeginner');
    if (preg_match('/followers_count>(.*)</',$xml,$match)!=0) {

    $tw['count'] = $match[1];
    }
    $tw['lastcheck'] = mktime();
    update_option("twitterfollowerscount",$tw);
    }
    echo $tw['count'];
    ?>

Make sure to replace wpbeginner with your twitter name.

Then Simply place this code anywhere you want to display this:

    <?php include("twitter.php"); ?>

Display Feedburner Subscriber Count as Text

Have you ever been to a site that is not using Feedburner button and is still showing subscriber count?
Well they are probably using the trick we are about to share. Most designers use this trick to have
custom styling and avoid the annoying feedburner button.

Simply copy and paste this code anywhere you like most likely sidebar.php

    <?php
    //get cool feedburner count
    $whaturl="http://api.feedburner.com/awareness/1.0/GetFeedData?uri=your feedburner id";

    //Initialize the Curl session
    $ch = curl_init();

    //Set curl to return the data instead of printing it to the browser.
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);

    //Set the URL
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $whaturl);

    //Execute the fetch
    $data = curl_exec($ch);

    //Close the connection

    curl_close($ch);
    $xml = new SimpleXMLElement($data);
    $fb = $xml->feed->entry['circulation'];
    echo $fb;
    //end get cool feedburner count
    ?>

You can wrap it around in styling to make it look like however you want.

Display any Number of Posts in a Loop

Did you ever want to display a different number of posts on different pages. For example
on your category pages, you want to display 10 posts which you can control from your
Admin panel, but another page you want to show only 5 posts. Well this tutorial is just for you.

Open a Template file where you want to display an x number of recent posts:

    // if everything is in place and ready, let’s start the loop

    // to display ‘n’ number of posts, we need to execute the loop ‘n’ number of times
    // so we define a numerical variable called ‘$count’ and set its value to zero
    // with each iteration of the loop, the value of ‘$count’ will increase by one
    // after the value of ‘$count’ reaches the specified number, the loop will stop
    // *USER: change the ‘n’ to the number of posts that you would like to display

    if ($count == "n") { break; }
    else { ?>

    // for CSS styling and layout purposes, we wrap the post content in a div
    // we then display the entire post content via the ‘the_content()’ function
    // *USER: change to ‘‘ to display post excerpts instead

    // here, we continue with the limiting of the number of displayed posts
    // each iteration of the loop increases the value of ‘$count’ by one
    // the final two lines complete the loop and close the if statement

How to Display any External RSS Feed on Your Site?

Have you seen other bloggers who display their other blog’s feed on their site.
You want to do it too for extra promotion and traffic. Well here is the tutorial for you.
Simply paste the following code in anywhere in your theme:

    <?php include_once(ABSPATH.WPINC.'/feed.php');
    $rss = fetch_feed('http://feeds.feedburner.com/wpbeginner');
    $maxitems = $rss->get_item_quantity(5);
    $rss_items = $rss->get_items(0, $maxitems);
    ?>
    <ul>
    <?php if ($maxitems == 0) echo '<li>No items.</li>';
    else
    // Loop through each feed item and display each item as a hyperlink.
    foreach ( $rss_items as $item ) : ?>
    <li>

    <a href='<?php echo $item->get_permalink(); ?>'
    title='<?php echo 'Posted '.$item->get_date('j F Y | g:i a'); ?>'>
    <?php echo $item->get_title(); ?></a>
    </li>
    <?php endforeach; ?>
    </ul>

How to Create a Page that Displays Random Posts?

Have you ever been to a site and saw this cool feature? They have a link in their top
navigation to something like Stumbe! or Read Random Articles, or some other creative text.
When you click on that link, it takes you to a page that displays one random page. Each time
you refresh, you are delivered with a new post. Well this trick is just for you then.

You would need to follow the trick #1 in this article to create a custom page template.
And simply paste this code in there....

    <?php
    query_posts(array('orderby' => 'rand', 'showposts' => 1));
    if (have_posts()) :
    while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

    <h1><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h1>

    <?php the_content(); ?>

    <?php endwhile;
    endif; ?>

This is a simple WordPress Loop that is running a query to display random posts and the number 1 in there is telling WordPress to only show 1 post. You can change that number, but most of the time people do it one post a time.

How to Show Labels as Vertical Tabs ???

1. Follow the instructions from the original Tab hack.

2.Add this code to the end of the CSS part, before the ] ] > sign:, change the CSS menu name from menu1 to menux (x varies from 1 to 14 [designs].)

#menu1 li{

border-style: solid solid none solid;
border-color: #3D261D;
border-size: 1px;
border-width: 1px;
}

#menu1 li a {
height: 32px;
voice-family: "\"}\"";
voice-family: inherit;
height: 24px;
text-decoration: none;
}

#menu1 li a:link, #menu1 li a:visited {
color: #E4D6CD;
display: block;
background: url(http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/3729/970792021505273/1600/menu1.gif);
padding: 8px 0 0 10px;
}

#menu1 li a:hover {
color: #FFF;

padding: 8px 0 0 10px;

Facebook(Latest News)

Well, the headline might look crazy to you, but the fact is that Paul Ceglia, initial
partner of Mark Zuckerberg (the founder and CEO of facebook), is claiming to have 50
percent financial rights over Facebook, based on his initial investment of USD 1,000 – that
 he made back in 2003.

This way, Paul Ceglia is potentially the luckiest investor in the history of tech world.
 He, may get as many shares in Facebook as Zuckerbeg has – based on his 1,000 dollars
investment that he made in facebook in early days...

Paul says that he has the copy of contract with at least one dozen emails, which facebook
says are fake, to prove that his initial investment is legit and he is rightful owner of
facebook shares (exactly equal to Zuckerberg’s) valuing around 10 billion dollars.

It all started back in 2003 when Zuckerberg shared his idea of year book
(later called as facebook) with Paul and asked him for fund injection, which Paul agreed
 and paid 1,000 dollars to Zuckerberg against 50 percent stakes in the project.

After several months of this initial investment by Paul, Zuckerberg was able to
launch facebook in early 2004, which turned out to be a successful project (though the
access to website was limited to Harvard University students only).

Later on, in summer 2004, Zuckerberg seemingly lied to Paul and said that project didn’t
go through well and he’s thinking of taking the website off-air. He offered Paul the the
refund of his investment, which Paul claims Zuckerberg never made.

Currently the case is in court, and may turn out to be one of the biggest tech stories of
 history.
Just to add here, in past, facebook had to pay 65 million dollars to Winklevoss
brothers (who were without any document proof) in a settlement case when both the
brothers had accused Zuckerberg of stealing their idea of launching facebook.

How to Add Blog Search Widget?

This form will take you to Blogger where you can choose to install the search widget into your sidebar (or other element of your template). However, if you prefer to install the search widget manually, you should take the following steps:

   1. Go to Template>Layout in your Blogger Dashboard.
   2. Create a new HTML/Javascript element in your sidebar.
   3. Insert the following code into the widget:

          <p align="center"><form id="searchthis" action="/search" style="display:inline;" method="get"> <input id="search-box" name="q" size="25" type="text"/> <input id="search-btn" value="Search" type="submit"/> </form></p>

   4. Give your widget a title if you like (eg: "Search this Blog"), and click save. You should now have a fully functional search box in your blog's sidebar!

So, if you prefer something simpler than the Google blog search I wrote about before, this is surely the widget for you.

How To Add a Border to your Posts and Sidebar?

This is a fairly simple task. I'm working from the Minima template, so your template terminology may be slightly different. You will be looking for the sidebar area in your CSS style sheet.

Look for this in your template.

    .sidebar .widget, .main .widget {
    border-bottom:1px dotted $bordercolor;
    margin:0 0 1.5em;
    padding:0 0 1.5em;
    }

    .main .Blog {
    border-bottom-width: 0;
    }

Then you will replace it with this code:

    .sidebar .widget, .main .widget {
    background:#ffffff;
    margin:1.5em 0 1.5em;
    padding:8px 8px 8px;
    border:1px solid $bordercolor;
    border-bottom:1px solid $bordercolor;
    border-width:1px 1px 1px;
    border-bottom:1px line $bordercolor;
    }

    .main .Blog {
    background:#ffffff;
    margin:1.5em 0 1.5em;
    padding:8px 8px 8px;
    border:1px solid $bordercolor;
    border-bottom:1px solid $bordercolor;
    border-width:1px 1px 1px;
    border-bottom:1px line $bordercolor;
    }

That will give you a nice border around your posts and your sidebar widgets!

You can change your border width editing above code.

How To Remove Blogger Navbar?

I don't like the blogger bar across the top of my Web site because it didn’t really go with my template and I already had a Google search bar integrated. So I went on a mission to remove it and de-bloggerify my blog. I searched far and wide and for some reason kept hitting a dead end. It turns out that the code used to change the old blogger templates no longer works! So after tracking down the CSS changes here is how I did it:

Goto Blogger Template>Edit Html ....

Put the following code as the picture below...

    #navbar-iframe { height:0px; visibility:hidden; display:none; }

How To Add MARQUEE TEXT

How to find the width of your blog Header, Sidebar and Main column

To get the width of the blog Header, sidebars, main column, sign into Dashboard. In the section for the relevant blog, click LAYOUT, then click EDIT TEMPLATE. This will open the template editor window. Search through the templates for the following:

       #header-wrapper {
    width:750px;
    margin:0 auto 10px;
    border:1px solid $bordercolor;
    }
       #main-wrapper {
    width: 400px;
    margin-left: 20px;
    float: left;
    word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
    }
      #sidebar-wrapper {
    width: 150px;
    float: right;
    word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */

How To Use Virtual Hard Disk Files?...

You can now create and manage virtual hard disks files in Windows 7 as if they were real disks. This can allow you to use a live Windows installation on the virtual disk without the need to boot the virtual Computer. To create a virtual disk you have to press the Windows Key, right-click on Computer, then go to Manage -> Disk Management -> Action -> Create VHD. There you can specify the location and size of your virtual hard disk file.

To attach the virtual disk file, press the Windows Key, right-click Computer, then go to Manage -> Disk Management -> Action -> Attach VHD and you have to specify the location and if it’s read only or not.

To initialize a virtual hard disk, press the Windows Key, right-click on Computer, go to Manage -> Disk Management -> Action -> Attach VHD, specify the location, click Ok, then right click on the virtual disk and click on Initialize Disk. How to make a computer faster?(4 of 4)

Free up disk space

The Disk Cleanup tool helps you to free up space on your hard disk to improve the performance of your computer. The tool identifies files that you can safely delete and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

Use Disk Cleanup to:

    *Remove temporary Internet files.
    * Delete downloaded program files, such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets.
    * Empty the Recycle Bin.
    * Remove Windows temporary files, such as error reports.
    * Delete optional Windows components that you don't use.
    *Delete installed programs that you no longer use.
    * Remove unused restore points and shadow copies from System Restore.

Tip: Typically, temporary Internet files take the most amount of space because the browser caches each page you visit for faster access later.

How to make a computer faster?(3 of 4)

Speed up access to data

Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk as a file is opened (to piece it back together). The response time can be significantly longer.

Disk Defragmenter (sometimes shortened to Defrag by users) is a Windows utility that consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk. With your files stored neatly end to end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up.

When to run Disk Defragmenter
In addition to running Disk Defragmenter at regular intervals (weekly is optimal), there are other times you should run it, too, such as when:

    *You add a large number of files.
    *Your free disk space totals 15 percent or less.
    *You install new programs or a new version of the Windows operating system.

Click the Start Button
Find the Disk Defragmentation program and open it.
         1. Click the Programs icon
         2. Click the Accessories icon
         3. Click the System Tools icon
         4. Click the Disk Defragmentation icon

How to make a computer faster?(2 of 4)

Detect and repair disk errors

In addition to running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to optimize the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility.

As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult or even impossible. The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors and scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.

If you use your computer daily, you should run this utility once a week to help prevent data loss.

Remove spyware, and help protect your computer from viruses...

Spyware collects personal information without letting you know and without asking for permission. From the websites you visit to user names and passwords, spyware can put you and your confidential information at risk. In addition to privacy concerns, spyware can hamper your computer's performance. To combat spyware, you might want to consider using the PC safety scan from Windows Live OneCare. This scan is a free service that helps check for and remove viruses.

Download Microsoft Security Essentials for free to help guard your system in the future from viruses, spyware, adware, and other malicious software (also known as malware). Microsoft Security Essentials acts as a spyware removal tool and includes automatic updates to help keep your system protected from emerging threats.

The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is another utility that checks computers running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 for infections by specific, prevalent malicious software, including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom, and helps remove any infection found.

iphone 5 news(Latest)

iPhone 5 (or the iPhone 5G, as some are calling it) rumours are flying thick and fast already.

Will there be a rush release to erase memories of the iPhone 4's antenna problems? Maybe not - with the Verizon iPhone 4 Apple showed it wasn't afraid to tweak the current iPhone design.

Will the 5th generation iPhone deliver ultra-fast mobile internet? Will it ever end up on Verizon in the US?

Let's raid the iPhone 5 rumour fridge to find the tomatoes of truth amid the stinky stilton of baseless speculation.

iPhone 5 release date will be in the summer…

UPDATE: The Apple Worldwide Developers' Conference 2011 date has been announced as 6 June 2011, so it's possible we'll see the iPhone 5 break cover there. However, Jim Dalrymple at The Loop says that this year's WWDC will be about software, not hardware, with Apple focussing on iOS and Mac OS.

Apple's established a rhythm with iPhone releases, with new models appearing in late June or early July each year. It's a safe bet that the iPhone 5 release date (UK and US) will also be late June or early July.

As Beatweek magazine points out, Apple's A-Team can't be everywhere at once; by staggering the releases of the iPad 2 and the iPhone 5, they get to work their magic on both devices.

A new report from China has stated that Q3 (which still includes July) is now the earliest we will see the iPhone 5, after the disaster in Japan pushed back supply of key components.
